MASS OF THE LORD'S SUPPER AND WASHING OF THE FEET
On Holy Thursday, Catholics celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, which commemorates the Last Supper when Jesus gave us the gift of the Eucharist and instituted the priesthood. During this Mass, the tradition of the Washing of the Feet recalls how Jesus humbly washed the feet of his disciples and commanded them to serve one another in love. Together, these rituals invite the faithful to reflect on Christ’s sacrificial love, humility, and the call to serve others as he did.
ADORATION - THURSDAY 8 PM THRU FRIDAY 8 AM
Tonight we have a special opportunity for Adoration after the 6:30 p.m. Mass of the Lord's Supper. The Knights of Columbus are standing watch overnight with the Blessed Sacrament from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. You are invited to keep watch in Eucharistic Adoration on Holy Thursday night to remember the night Jesus spent in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane after the Last Supper. On Holy Thursday, the Church celebrates the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood, and the Blessed Sacrament is placed in a special place of repose after Mass. Parishioners are invited to spend time in quiet prayer with Jesus, echoing His request to the disciples in the garden: “Could you not keep watch with me for one hour?” (Matthew 26:40). This time of adoration allows the faithful to accompany Christ in His agony and prepare their hearts for His Passion on Good Friday.
